A very merry "un-anniversary" to me

Today is a weird day. What does one do on the day that they got married when they're no longer married? What do you even call it?

Originally I was going with "un-anniversary" but it just never sounded right. Then I wrote this...

I actually wrote it last night and then tweeted it this morning. Something about it seems to have resonated with people... which is always nice. I don't see myself as any kind of role model for people, but I'm happy to help those who find my story inspiring.

So instead of un-anniversary, I decided to go with marital freedom day. Don't know why, it just kind of felt right. I moved out March 1, 2018 and the divorce was finalized January 16, 2019 so those 2 days are really the freedom days, but I felt like today needed... something.

Anyone who's ever been in any kind of abusive relationship understands the importance of freedom... getting your life not just back, but back on track. They're 2 completely different things and one can take much longer than the other. Getting your life back is when you take that step and say "I'm done" and leave. Getting your life back on track is when you can finally say, "This is MY life and no one else's."

It's taken me a long time to truly be grateful for the 2nd part of that.
